The 1305-BA09A is an industrially approved electronic component that is used for controlling the speed of an AC motor. This is Allen-Bradley’s solution to allow implementation of a more sophisticated control to increase the accuracy of control and operability. This product is commercially termed by Allen-Bradley as Adjustable Frequency AC drives but more generally known as Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) or Variable Speed Drive (VSD). With this VFD hardware, the operator is given an option to control the motor by interfacing electrical signaling components to the drive through it’s embedded I/O channels. As the individual channels are triggered with the required signal, the drive executes the parameter that is assigned to it to control the motor. Some of the common assignable parameters to the Drive are START / STOP, JOG, FORWARD / REVERSE of a motor, dictate operation location such as REMOTE / LOCAL and control mode such as AUTOMATIC / MANUAL. This will be done by programming the embedded Eight (8) Discrete Inputs to the mentioned parameters. Two (2) Analog Inputs are intended for assignment as Frequency Reference which when provided with 0 to 10-VDC or 4-20mA signals, enables modification of speed. Two (2) Discrete Outputs are programable to report the drive’s status similar to motor operation state such as Faulted or Running. One (1) Analog Output is also provides which is commonly used to feedback the speed of the drive. It also has One (1) Potentiometer input which generally functions the same as the analog input. The enable the drive, terminate a 3-Phas, 380/460V.AC supply to the input power lines of the drive. The drive then produces an output voltage of 0-460VAC, 3-Phase which shall be wired to the motor leads. Along with the voltage output is the power rating of 9.0 Amperes and 5.0 Horsepower. The Allen-Bradley 1305-BA09A adjustable frequency AC drive allows the users to adjust the speed of 3-phase induction motors. The 1305-BA09A possesses similar specifications to most members of its series.
