The Allen-Bradley 1394-DIM is a servo controller module designed specifically as an interface for 1394 GMC or GMC Turbo system modules to external axis drives. It facilitates control over axis modules, external drives, and motors of various sizes within the 1394 system framework. The module passes standard servo output signals from the system module to each connected external drive, supporting up to four remote actuators.

Operating with an input voltage of 24V at 50kHz, the 1394-DIM can handle a maximum power dissipation of 30 Watts and provides 1500 V RMS signal isolation. It features a 0-10 V analog output voltage with 12-bit resolution (4.88 mV output resolution) and an output impedance of 220 ohms. Physical dimensions are 15.75 x 11.02 x 1.97 inches, weighing 6.6 lbs. It utilizes a slide-and-lock mounting mechanism that simplifies installation by reducing wiring complexity with up to 100 wire terminals eliminated. Recommended wiring includes Belden 8163 or equivalent cables, with a maximum length of 4.5 meters.

The 1394-DIM module supports applications requiring power outputs of more than 22 kW and can control up to four axes, such as positioning servo motors up to 100 lb.-in and 50 HP 1336 force drives. Typical applications include transfer and stamping presses, converting machinery, cut-to-length systems, and extrusion processes.
