This unit is the most advanced technology available for energy management and building automation applications because it provides a wide array of real-time measurement and monitoring options in a compact, 96-millimeters, panel-mounted, and wall-mounted package. Additional communication protocols are available for connection to the Allen-Bradley 1426-M5E PowerMonitor 5000 Modules, including the Modbus TCP/RTU, DeviceNet or ControlNet Modules. The monitoring device functions like the load profiling, power system monitoring, and control functions help the plant managers to make informed decisions about cost allocations, billing, sub-billing, demand management, demand responses, or power quality.

All PowerMonitor 5000 units like the 1426-M5E Module are equipped with a native EtherNet/IP 100 BaseT communication port. This Ethernet communication port allows the users to integrate the Allen-Bradley 1426-M5E PowerMonitor 5000 Module to the local area network (LAN). It is up to the users to configure the parameters that need to be monitored and the variables that should be logged, along with their respective time intervals and units of measurement. The parameters that can be monitored include but are not limited to the amperage, frequency, voltage, true, reactive and apparent power, power factor, and the power consumption per hour. An important safety feature of the Allen-Bradley 1426-M5E PowerMonitor 5000 Module is protection access against unauthorized changes in the configuration of the system by using an account-based access protocol so that only authorized personnel can access or modify the set-up parameters.
