The 150-C135NBD has an open-style enclosure therefore, this device is required to be mounted inside an enclosure that provides adequate protection against environmental and mechanical factors that may affect the operation and lifespan of the smart motor controller. Appropriate enclosure rating is IP65 (Type 4/12) for non-combination installation, the minimum enclosure size of 762 mm x 610 mm x 305 mm (HxWxD). For combination controllers with fusible disconnect, the minimum enclosure size is 965 mm x762 mm x 356 mm (HxWxD). For Combination controllers with circuit breakers, minimum enclosure size is 965 mm x 762 mm x 356 mm (HxWxD). Additionally, mounting clearance must be included in the installation of this controller. Recommended clearance top and bottom clearance is as 15 cm.

Before and during a start, the 150-C135NBD controller will conduct a self-test to see if there are any shorted SCRs. If so, the start will be aborted and the LED indicator will signal a fault to prevent possible damage from phase imbalance. The phase imbalance is also monitored by the controller and when this imbalance exceeds the specified limits, it will indicate a fault and the unit will trip. To prevent motor burnout, the 150-C135NBD controller will not start up when it detects only a single-phase.
