The Allen-Bradley 150-F60NBD features a microprocessor and solid-stated based device with programmable function for performing multiple starting and stopping modes for a motor as well as active control mode. These modes are designed to protect the connected motor from damage due to operation stress to maximize its designed operational lifespan.

The 150-F60NBD is part of the Smart Motor Controller (SMC) that belongs to the SMC Flex product family from Allen-Bradley. These devices are soft starter products that function primarily to protect motors. It is also used as an energy saving equipment as it may be used to limit unnecessary levels of electrical parameters.

This soft starter may be configured locally through the embedded LCD screen with embedded keypad. It may also be configured over a network by installing communication adapters such as RS485, ControlNet, Ethernet, ProfiBus, HVAC and other communication protocols.

Alternatively, the 150-F60NBD may be used to interface with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) via the device’ control terminals. This allows automatic start-up and stopping of the motor according to a triggered motor logic. The control terminals accept Start Input, Stop Input, Option Input #1 and 2 that are programmable. It is an open-type controller with a 200 to 460V AC, 3-phase input line voltage with frequency of 50 and 60 Hz. It has an output current of 60 A and 100 to 240V AC control voltage. The output power of this soft starter is 40 HP at 460V AC. The ambient temperature of the 150-F60NBD should be between 23 and 122 deg Fahrenheit during operation and between -4 and 167 deg. Fahrenheit when in storage. This controller comes with load terminal lugs, as well as a keypad input and an LCD with a backlight. Available features for the 150-F60NBD controller are 7 starting and stopping modes, which consist of the preset slow speed, the current limit start, the dual ramp, the soft start, the full voltage, the soft stop, and the linear speed acceleration.
