Information About 1734-AENTR
The Allen-Bradley 1734-AENTR is a dual Ethernet POINT I/O communication module that is used to interface a POINT I/O rack to the central controller in the Ethernet I/P network. This adapter is capable of being implemented in Ring, Star and Tree Topology and is powered by an External 24VDC supply.
The 1734-AENTR supports TCP/UDP/IP protocol with physical connection established using Category 5 or Category 6 cable. This adapter supports 10/100 Mbit transmission speed with auto-negotiation function.
IP address may be assigned through the thumbwheel switches or with the use of BOOT-P DHCP utility. In most applications, this module is configured with a static IP address. With static IP address, the IP address do not change even if the device is powered off. Alternatively, the module may be configured with dynamic IP address. With dynamic type of address, the IP address changes every time the module is power cycled. This mode is applied in applications with a very specific requirement as it may result in communication errors due to sudden change in the IP address.
This module ins installed on the leftmost part of a POINT I/O system and the only module that establishes connection to the network and to the main controller. It transfers I/O data from its local I/O backplane to the controller over the network. Additionally, this POINT I/O adapter supports simultaneous communication with different scanner modules.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-AENTR I/O is a 2 port Ethernet adapter provides Ethernet/IP network connectivity at a rate of 10 to 100 Mbits/s, half or full-duplex. It comes with 2 ports for pass-through, Category 5 RJ-45 connectors that are used to support ring or daisy chain/linear networks, and the existing tree and star network topologies. These Ethernet ports are configured as embedded Switches. The adapter is part of the 1734 series of 2-port communications adapters for POINT I/O modules. It uses messages encapsulated within the standard TCP/UDP/IP protocol. Category 5-rated twisted pair cable is used for interfacing. No network scheduling and routing tables are required. Plus, the 1734-AENTR is capable of simultaneously supporting connections from multiple controllers. The 1734-AENTR adapter is mounted and positioned vertically on a DIN rail. It ships with the pen push thumbwheel switches used for setting the network address. Other ways to set the network Internet Protocol address includes retrieving the IP address from a nonvolatile memory and using a DHCP server (set the module to DHCP enabled). To avoid unauthorized control or loss of control, assign a fixed IP address to the I/O adapter. If the DHCP utility is used, make sure that it is configured with the same IP address as the adapter.
