Each channel supports 100 Pt α = 0.00385; 200 Pt α = 0.00385; 100 Pt α = 0.003916; 200 Pt α = 0.003916; 10 Cu α = 0.00427; 100 Ni α = 0.00618; 120 Ni α = 0.00618 and 120 Ni α = 0.00672 sensors. Aside from RTD sensor inputs, this module also supports direct wiring of 0-600 Ω analog signal. This module has a 16-bit resolution.

The Allen-Bradley 1734-IR2 is a POINT I/O Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) and resistance input module. This module is ideally used for temperature applications or applications with installed transducers that provide resistance signal as feedback variable.

The 1734-IR@, being part of the POINT I/O family is a cost-effective, panel space saving module as it supports mounting to a standard 35mm DIN rail and occupies only 56 x 12 x 75.5 mm (2.21 x 0.47 x 2.97 in.). Additionally, it has an open style enclosure which means any enclosure suitable to the application area is equally usable to the 1734-IR2.

The 1734-IR2 mainly features Two (2) Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) input channels. Each input channel is compatible for direct interfacing with RTD sensors such as 100 Pt α = 0.00385; 200 Pt α = 0.00385; 100 Pt α = 0.003916; 200 Pt α = 0.003916; 10 Cu α = 0.00427; 100 Ni α = 0.00618; 120 Ni α = 0.00618 and 120 Ni α = 0.00672 sensors and direct wiring of 0-600 Ω resistance signals. This module is a 16-nit resolution analog input module ideally used for temperature applications. It has requires use of 1734-TB, 1734-TBS, 1734-TOP, or 1734-TOPS wiring base assembly.

The 1734-IR2 has a built-in Delta Sigma analog to digital converter with resolution of 16 bits specifically, 9.5 mΩ/cnt 0.03 °C/cnt (Pt385 @ 25 °C) [0.05 °F/cnt (Pt385 @ 77 °F). Converted data is stored as a signed integer. It has an absolute accuracy of 0.1% Full Scale @ 25 °C (77 °F). This module is factory calibrated.

The 1734-IR2 measures 2.21 x 0.47 x. 2.97 inches, it weighs 0.036 kilograms or 0.08 pounds and it has an open-type enclosure. It can be mounted using a DIN rail and it is compatible with the 1734-TB, 1734-TBS, 1734-TOP, or the 1734-TOPS terminal base unit. The resolution of the module is 16 bits at 9.5 milliohms/cnt and 0.03 degrees Celsius/cnt. It also has a Delta Sigma conversion type and a signed integer data format. Operators can choose the module's temperature data format from four predefined scales: Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine, and one custom scale (mV).

The 1734-IR2 module also has alarms that will alerts users to under-range, over-range, open-wire, and low or high-level conditions. There is no maximum overload input protection for the 1734-IR2 and no external DC power is required to run it. The 1734-IR2’s inputs are 15 mA 0 to 10 Volts, and +/-10 Volts, while its nominal input is 24 Volts DC. It has an input range of 0 to 600 ohms and a maximum POINTbus current of 220 mA at 5 Volts DC. The maximum power dissipation of the module is 1 Watts and the maximum thermal dissipation is 3.3 BTU/hour. It also has a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 to 95%, an operating temperature range of -20 to 55 degrees Celsius, and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The 1734-IR2’s operating shock rating is 30 g, its non-operating shock rating is 50 g, and its operating vibration is 5 g at 10 to 500 Hertz. The 1734-IR2 also has a continuous isolation voltage of 50 Volts from I/O to the system.
