This POINT I/O Terminal Base Assembly, the 1734-TBS, by Allen-Bradley, belongs to the POINT I/O system that is part of a distributed I/O system automation series that attempts to bring modules closer to their field devices. The 1734-TBS helps in expanding the usability of this system by keeping its dimensions compact and providing it with removable terminal parts;  this wiring terminal has a Removable Terminal Block (RTB) with eight (8) terminal spring-clamps for wire termination. The 1734-TBS base is designed to accept many different types of I/O modules, as well as enable safe hot swapping and RIUP (Removal and Insertion Under Power. One of this unit’s advantages is that the base terminal can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.

Compact design is highly important for the POINT I/O system; the 1734-TBS is contained in a reasonable housing of dimensions (65 x 12 x 160 millimeters) and includes a scope of wire sizes 0.34 to 2.1 millimeters (22 to 14 AWG). Other descriptive characteristics include its weight of 87.0 grams (3.07 ounces), a supply voltage of 300 Volts, a maximum current of 10A, and a bus supply voltage of 120 to 240 Volts AC or 28.8 Volts DC. Its integral parts are a wiring module base, an RTB, a handle for the removal of the RTB, interlocking side pieces, a screw locking system for DIN-rail installation, and an orange mechanical key. To replace the module’s RTB, order the part that corresponds to the number 1734-RTBS.

This manually composed module does not require any tools for its setup or installation. It can be connected to the POINT I/O system in few simple moves. Put the base just above previously inserted modules, then sliding it down to snap onto a DIN-rail and make a connection to an adjacent module. Make sure that the base module locking screw is in a horizontal position (representing locked state). Take note not to put more than 2 conductors in any terminating pin on RTB.
