Information About 1747-AENTR
The Allen-Bradley 1747-AENTR enables CompactLogix and ControlLogix processors to control SLC I/O modules. This adapter is designed to allow the transformation of existing SLC control systems to Logix-based systems. The Allen-Bradley 1747-AENTR mainly serves as a gateway between the SLC and the Ethernet/IP backplanes. This adapter usually replaces the SLC controller in the 1746 rack. You can replace the 1747-ASB module or ControlNet adapter with both the 1747-ACN15 and the 1747-ACNR15 on the remote SLC shelf. I/O backplane control can be achieved with the CompactLogix and ControlLogix controllers. It communicates via an Ethernet/IP router on the Logix backplane. It also crosses the Ethernet/IP and enters the 1747-AENTR gateway. The 1747-AENTR module acts as the gateway between SLC and Ethernet/IP backplane. The 1747-AENTR module is a CIP server (for explicit messaging and I/O) on the Ethernet port and the SLC host on the 1746 backplane. Before using your EtherNet/IP network adapter, you need to configure the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address is optional.
The 1747-AENTR’s backplane current consumption is 470 mA at 5 Volts DC and its thermal dissipation is 2.49 Watts. This module has dimensions of 145.3 x 34.8 x 130.8 millimeters (5.72 x 1.37 x 5.15 inches). The weight of this module is around 168 G (0.37 pounds). The 1747-AENTR’s isolation voltage is 50 Volts (continuous) with the basic insulation type. The relative ambient humidity is 5 to 95% without condensation. The Allen-Bradley 1747-AENTR has an operating temperature of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The nonoperating temperature of this module is -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
As an overview of migration, the 1747-AENTR replaces the SLC500 processor. For stand-alone SLC500 processors, the processor is uninstalled and the 1747-AENTR takes the place of the uninstalled processor. In SLC500 systems with distributed I/O systems as well, the processor, scanner modules and adapter modules are replaced as well by the 1747-AENTR. In any case, the instances of the 1747-AENTR are configured to communicate with a CompactLogix or ControlLogix processor, making it function as a distributed I/O station.
The 1747-AENTR connects to the Ethernet I/P via the provided dual Ethernet I/P communication ports which are basically embedded switches. These ports support 10/100 Mbps of communication speed in half or full duplex configuration and may be used to connect in variety of Ethernet topologies such as Star, Tree, Linear, and Ring topology. The appropriate communication cable for use with this adapter module is a Category 5 shielded or unshielded pair cable.
The 1747-AENTR is required to be installed in the leftmost slot of any SLC500 chassis. It occupies One (1) slot with current draw of 470 mA at 5VDC and Thermal dissipation of 2.49 Watts or 8.4962 BTU/hr. It has an isolation voltage rating of 50V (continuous), Basic Insulation Type.
