Information About 1747-M13
The Allen-Bradley 1747-M13 is a memory module which is combined for use with a memory adapter. It is used commonly as a backup memory for SLC 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 processors. The memory should be properly oriented and mounted on the jumpers. For the 1747-M13 module, the jumper must connect the A18 to the center pin. To make the 1747-M13 functional with its memory adapter, you should use a 1747-M15 module. This is to avoid damaging the memory module, the PROM, or both components.
When installing the memory module and removing the processor, make sure the controller is switched OFF. This prevents any damage and undesired faults to the processor. The memory module has connectors that are keyed to avoid improper installation. Do not expose the module to the areas in which it may experience electrostatic charge. The electrostatic charge may damage, alter, or even destroy the memory of the 1747-M13.
The 1747-M13 is a memory module intended for use with the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This memory module has an integrated 64K of user back-up memory.
This memory module requires a memory adapter module with part number 1747-M15 series B. If a Series A 1747-M15 is used, the memory module may be damaged.
The primary function of the memory module is to provide a non-volatile memory area for the Processor. The SLC 500 processors are provide with a Random-Access Memory (RAM) which is backed-up by a Lithium battery for a minimum of Two (2) years. If the battery voltage is drained, the data inside the RAM memory will be deleted. This will result to loss or user program that runs the process. With the installation of a memory module, the processor is provided with memory that cannot be erased even when the back-up battery is drained. This prevents unwanted deletion of the user program and unplanned process shutdown. The user program inside the memory module is automatically loaded every time a power cycle is initiated.
Simply connect to the processor and initiate program burn to EEPROM module.
