Information About 1756-M16SE
The 1756-M16SE is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix SERCOS Integrated Motion Module. This SERCOS interface module is a link between the ControlLogix platform and the intelligent servo drives. The 1756-M16SE is an enclosure-free (open) controller and digital drive interface made for rapid real-time serial communication through its fiber-optic cables which are noise-immune.
The 1756-M16SE has 16 axes per module and 32 axes per controller. Its SERCOS data rate is either 4 or 8 Mb/s and its SERCOS cycle time is 1 ms for as many as 4 drives at 4 Mb/s and it is 0.5 ms for as many as 4 drives at 8 Mb/s. The control modes regulate velocity, torque, and precision. The 1756-M16SE’s current draw is 760 mA at 5V DC and 2.4 mA at 24V DC.
The 1756-M16SE interface module uses 1 digital fiber-optic link that eliminates the need for up to 18 digital wires per axis. The user can send detailed drive-status information from the drive to the controller and vice versa. The 1756-M16SE can connect to the following servo drives: the 2093 Kinetix 2000, the 2094 Kinetix 6000, the 2099 Kinetix 7000 high-power servo drive, and the 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS servo drive.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-M16SE is a Serial Real Time Communication System (SERCOS) interface module. This module is mainly used to interface Kinetix SERVO drives such as 2093 Kinetix 2000 multi-axis servo drive, 2094 Kinetix 6000 multi-axis servo drive, 2099 Kinetix 7000 high-power servo drive, and 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS servo drives. It uses a single and digital fiber optic link, eliminating the need for a traditional wiring method for connecting each of the axes to the module.
The 1756-M16SE supports integration of up to Sixteen (16) servo drives and supports SERCOS data rate of 4Mbps and 8Mbps. SERCOS cycle time varies depending on the data rate used specifically, 0.5 ms for 2 drives; 1 ms for 4 drives; and 2 ms for 8 drives @ 4 Mbps data rate and 0.5 ms for 4 drives; 1 ms for 8 drives and 2 ms for 16 drives @ 8Mbps data rate. This interface module supports drive control modes such as Position, Velocity and Torque.
The 1756-M16SE has a slot width of 1 module. It may be installed to any available slot in the chassis and compatible with ControlLogix chassis such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17. It may also be used in standard or simplex ControlLogix configuration and used with Power Supply modules such as 1756-PA72/C, 1756-PA75/B, 1756-PB72/C, 1756-PB75/B, 1756-PC75/B, 1756-PH75/B. Similarly, it also supports redundant ControlLogix configuration such along with redundant type power supplies including 1756-PA75R, 1756-PB75R, 1756-PSCA2.
For connection with Servo drive axes, Plastic fiber-optic cables or Glass fiber-optic cables may be used. This module has an open type enclosure rating.
