Information About 1756-N2
The 1756-N2 is a slot filler module package from Allen-Bradley. This package consists of Two (2) passive modules like casing without electronic circuitry. In more popular terms, this module is also called a dummy module, covering and protecting the exposed circuitries of a vacant slot of the 1756 ControlLogix system. The 1756-N2 is designed as a single slot width dummy module. It does not occupy a slot of the chassis instead; it merely covers the electronic circuitry. This module is ideally used in installation locations with a high level or count of dust particles or small contaminants that may stick to the backplane. It also provides an additional layer of protection against gasses, vapors, and other industrial contaminants. Backplane slots are created for a variety of reasons. Primarily, due to strategic partitioning of the system to maintain proper I/O module distribution in the event of modification. Additionally, vacant backplane slots are also created as expansion provisions. Finally, vacant slots are also created to reserve slot configuration by module inhibition. With module inhibition, a slot can be configured with a specific assignment even if the actual module is not yet available or not to be installed for a specific time period. With module inhibition, hardware reconfiguration can be avoided, preventing the stoppage of a running system. In all the mentioned situations, the 1756-N2 is applicable. The 1756-N2 can be mounted and dismantled with or without power as it does not contain any electronic circuitry. The operating temperature of this module is 0…60 °C (32…140 °F) while storage temperature is -25…+60 °C (-13…+140 °F).
The Allen-Bradley 1756-N2 is a ControlLogix Empty Slot Filler Card. It is a slot filler module designed to fill empty slots in a standard ControlLogix chassis. It is categorized as an accessory for the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix controllers. The package includes 2 slot filler modules for every 1756-N2 part. The 1756-N2 is for unoccupied slots of a standard ControlLogix chassis and it is considered as a slot filler module.
