Information About 1764-LRP

The Allen-Bradley 1764-LRP is an MicroLogix 1500 Processor. It is a component of MicroLogix 1500 Programmable Controllers that offers a large-memory solution to a variety of applications. It provides 14K words of user-configurable memory for data and programs. It comes with a program execution time of approximately 1 millisecond for a 1K-word program (including bit, counter, timer, and math instructions). In a controller system, the 1764-LRP Processor Unit provides the trim potentiometers, a Run/Remote/Program mode switch, a communication toggle push button, and logic processing. It serves as an interface to the real-time clock, the DAT, and the memory modules. This processor uses a controller assembly to support a maximum of eight I/O modules in an additional I/O bank.

The 1764-LRP Processor comes with an additional communications port, DTE (male) 9-pin D-shell connector with a 30 Volt DC isolation. This RS-232 port is electrically isolated and used for peer-to-peer and SCADA/RTU networks, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and the DH-485 ports. It can be separately configured (Channel 1) for any supported communication protocol. Because the 1764-LRP is an enhanced version of the standard processing unit, an isolator is not required when connecting a MicroLogix controller system that is using the 1764-LRP to a computer. This module requires a backup battery once its battery indicator light turns on, as the original battery will only last for at least 7 days.

The Allen-Bradley manufactured 1764-LRP is a MicroLogix 1500 Controller that is primarily intended for use in small, low level applications. This controller directly attached to any MicroLogix 1500 base units such as 1764-24AWA, 1764-24BWA and 1764-28BXB. It is provided with a dual RS232 port which is individually configured. The MicroLogix 1500 product family including the 1764-LRP’s base unit is designed for DIN Rail mounting. It also supports installation of local expansion modules and remote installation using I/O banks of communication through a DeviceNet communication module particularly 1764-SDN. With the use of this module, the controller is capable of communicating up to 63 slave devices.

The 1764-LRP integrated memory is partitioned for 10 KB User Program and 4 KB User Data. It has a rated processing speed is up to 1 ms per 1K of user program. With the provide integrated memory, the controller is capable of handling up to 512 I/O, including expansion modules.

Data Logging is supported by the 1764-LRP. It may be triggered with time or event trigger. This allows a controlled data storage with time stamp in a 48 Kbyte memory. This logging may be used for data historization and analysis.

The 1764-LRP communication channel 1 is an isolated RS232 port that can be used in peer to peer communication for data exchange with HMI, SCADA, RTU systems through DH485, DeviceNet and Ethernet I/P.

The data within the 1764-LRP may be protected with the use of Lithium battery. This battery is replaceable with part number of 1747-BA. This battery may be monitored through the processor’s provided LED indicator. Once the indicator is activated, this means that the battery charge will drain within Seven (7) days. The battery may be replaced anytime, provided that the external power supply is active. Never attempt to replace the battery without power.
