  • Weight: 7.5 oz (213 g)
Question: What is the 1768-EWEB module used for?
Date Update:23/06/2025
Answer:

The 1768-EWEB module is used to provide web-based access to controller data over an Ethernet/IP network. It enables remote monitoring and interaction with the control system via a web browser. Operators can view XML-based data, manage system diagnostics, and display custom web pages stored in the module’s memory. This module is especially useful in plant management, diagnostics, and web-based SCADA setups. Its use enhances visibility into automation systems without requiring direct physical access.

Question: What controllers are compatible with the 1768-EWEB?
Date Update:23/06/2025
Answer:

The 1768-EWEB is compatible with the following controllers:

  • 1768-L43 and 1768-L45 CompactLogix controllers.
  • Only controllers that support the 1768 backplane.
  • It must be installed in slot 3 or 4 of the CompactLogix chassis.
  • Not compatible with 1769-only systems.

It’s best suited for mid-sized CompactLogix architectures that require web accessibility.

Question: What is the default IP address of the 1768-EWEB?
Date Update:23/06/2025
Answer:

The 1768-EWEB module does not come with a fixed default IP address. Instead, it uses BOOTP or DHCP to obtain an address dynamically during initial startup. Users must assign a static IP address using BOOTP/DHCP Server Tool provided by Rockwell or manually through RSLogix 5000. It is best practice to assign a static IP for reliability in industrial networks. Once assigned, the IP can also be verified or changed through the web interface.

Question: Is the 1768-EWEB still in production?
Date Update:23/06/2025
Answer:

Yes, the 1768-EWEB is still in production and available through Rockwell Automation and authorized distributors. While newer architectures use more modern communication modules, the EWEB remains supported for CompactLogix 1768 systems.
