Information About 1768-PB3
The Allen-Bradley 1768-PB3 is a CompactLogix Power Supply. The 1768-PB3 supplies power via the CompactLogix backplane and the front panel terminal blocks. Input/Output modules and power supplies. Not only can the 1768-PB3 supply power through the backplane but it can also function as a 24 Volt DC external power supply. This input power supply offers a range of 16.8 to 31.2 Volts DC. The power supply can send 24 Volts DC to controllers located on the right of the power supply, or the right of the communication and motion modules. The 1768-PB3 CompactLogix Power Supply is constructed to weather power losses without affecting the operation of the system; this is referred to as ride-through time. The input/output type will drive the duration of ride-through time, which is typically 5 milliseconds for the 1768 PB3 power supply. Typically when operating at 24 Volts DC, the efficiency of the 1768-PB3 is 80%. The power dissipation of this module is around 22 Watts. In order to protect this power supply module from an internal overcurrent, a non-replaceable fuse has been soldered in place. Power supply modules operate most accurately at a temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celcius. Please note for installations purposes the 1768-PB3 CompactLogix Power Supply has an open enclosure rating. This module measures 5.17 x 5.23 x 4.15 inches in total and weighs 2.2 pounds.
The Allen-Bradley 1768-PB3 is a CompactLogix power supply. This module is compatible for use with the 1768 and 1769 CompactLogix Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platforms. It has two (2) outputs, one output directed to the backplane and one output connected to the front panel terminal.
The 24 Volt DC output to the backplane has a minimum ride through interval time of 5 milliseconds @ 90 Watts; Full-power hold-up interval time of 5 milliseconds @ 90 Watts and extended hold-up interval of 8-12 seconds @ 1.25 Watts. Also, the module’s output to the front panel terminal block is 18-27.6 Volts DC with output disable capability during hold-up periods.
The 1768-PB3 has a typical operating efficiency of 80% @ 24 Volts DC. It operates when supplied with an input voltage range of 16.8-31.2 Volts DC and maximum input power of 112 Watts @ 24 Volts DC. It has a maximum inrush current of 50 Amperes @ 16.8-31.2 Volts DC while the nominal inrush current is 30 Amperes @ 16.8-31.2 Volts DC. It has a maximum power dissipation of 22 Watts @ 24 Volts DC.
Thhis module has an isolation voltage of 250 Volts, Reinforced Insulation Type, input to system and 24 Volts DC AUX, Tested at 4250 Volts DC for 60 seconds and 150 Volts, Basic Insulation Type, 24 Volts DC AUX to system, tested at 2200 Volts DC for 60 seconds. It comes with an embedded internal overcurrent protection fuse that is non-replaceable, soldered across the terminals. When terminating input signal wires to this module, recommended wire size is 14 AWG (2.5 mm2 ) solid or stranded copper wire rated at 75 °C (167°C) or higher insulation rating and maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.). Similarly, recommended wire size for output power terminal is 2.5 mm2 (14 AWG )… 0.25 mm2 (22 AWG) solid or stranded copper wire rated at 75 °C (167 °C) or greater, 1.2 mm (3/64 in.) insulation, maximum.
