Information About 1771-OA
The Allen-Bradley 1771-OA is an AC output module that is part of the 1771 product category. This module is an I/O module that is compatible for use with the PLC5 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). This module mainly features Eight (8) output channels that deliver a voltage output range of 92-138 VAC, 47-63 Hz. Each channel has an output current rating of 1.5 A however, the entire module does not exceed 6 Amperes. It has a surge current rating of 4 Amperes per output channel, capable of withstanding in 8.3 ms, repeatable every 1 second. This module has a backplane current draw of 210 mA @ 5VDC.
The 1771-OA can be used to energize electrical devices such as Solenoid actuated devices, Indicating lights and sounding devices like horn, buzzer and siren. With the capability to deliver AC voltage and provide 1.5 A output current, this module may also be used to energize panel components that are typically AC voltage operated such as magnetic contactors and relays.
The 1771-OA is a single slot module that is mounted to any 1771 I/O chassis. It has an open type enclosure and uses the Field Wiring Arm with catalog number 1771-WA. Additionally, module keying is between 4 and 6 / 12 and 14. When connecting output devices to the module’s output channels, appropriate wire size for use ranges from 14-22 American Wire Gauge (AWG) with maximum insulation rating of 75 Deg. Celsius and maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm. This module comes with internally installed 2A, 250V Buss AGC2 fuse.
The device can be a motor starter, indicator, and solenoid motor; its output can drive the Allen-Bradley Size 4 starter motor, providing that the supply voltage does not drop below 92 Volts of AC power. The maximum load current that this unit can provide is 1.5 A per channel, not more than 6 A total per module. A power supply connected to the I/O backplane chassis is required to power the unit; it requires a maximum current of 210 mA at 5 Volts of DC power. The total requirements of this module are currently with other modules in the I/O chassis to avoid oversupply or rear axis I/O chassis. The 1771-OA has eight fluorescent status indicators that show the state of each output. These indicators light up when the appropriate output is energized. It also has an indicator that displays the fuse condition that is blown at each output regardless of the output state. This indicator is powered by the power supply of the user's device. The Output Voltage Range of this unit ranges between 92 and 138 Volts of AC at 47 to 63 Hertz while its output current rating is 1.5 A per output. This unit can handle a maximum surge current of 4 A per output for 8.3 milliseconds at 120 Volts AC. Its "on" state Voltage drop at 100 mA is 2 Volts. Its maximum "off" state leakage current at 120 Volts AC is 5 mA per output. Do not disconnect this module unless power has been switched off.
