The Allen-Bradley 1771-P7 is a PLC5 Power Supply module. This module is used to power One (1) 1771-A1B, -A2B, -A3B, -A3B1, or -A4B I/O chassis installed with an adapter module. This power supply also supports Mini-PLC-2/02, Mini-PLC-2/05, Mini-PLC-2/16, Mini-PLC-2/17, or PLC-5 Programmable Logic Controllers. The module’s nominal input voltage of 120VAC at 2.0A and 220 VAC at 1.0A. It has a maximum Real Input Power of 108 W.

This power supply is equipped with a D-Shell power connector that is used to connect to the PLC5 backplane for power distribution. Specific cables compatible with this power supply include 1771-CP2 used with 1771-A3B, 1771-CP1 and 1771-CP3 used with 1771-A1B, 1771-A2B, 1771-A3B1 or 1771-A4B.

When using the 1771-CP2, the power supply module must be within 1.52m or 5ft of the I/O chassis; 1771-CP1 requires within 0.32m or 1.04ftor on the left-side of the I/O chassis while 1771-CP3 requires a maximum distance of 1.68m (5.5ft) of the I/O chassis to mount and connect the 1771 Power Supply.

Safety precautions needed to observe when installing this power supply includes prevention of electrostatic discharge and installation without power. Electrostatic discharge may degrade or shorten the expected lifespan of the module. When installing the module, ensure that surfaces used to temporary place the module are grounded. Installation personnel must prevent touching the electronic components. Do not install the module while system is actively supplied by power as this may produce electrical arcs which may damage the pins, nearby electronic devices and the backplane iyself.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-P7 is a stand-alone 16A AC Power Supply. It comes with input voltage/current of 120V AC at 2.0A, 220V AC at 1.0A. The 1771-P7 has a real/apparent input power of 108 Watts/176VA with a frequency range of 4763Hz. Its maximum output current is 16A max at 5V DC and its output voltage is 5.06V.

The 1771-P7 Power Supply is an external power supply. Before installing, set the configuration jumper on the I/O chassis to the N position. It can be attached to a panel-mounted I/O chassis by sliding it onto the left side. If mounted separately, it requires a minimum vertical distance of 6 inches. Take note to mount above or next to the chassis only, to allow convection cooling. The 1771-P7 can power one 1771-A1B, -A2B, -A3B, -A3B1, or -A4B I/O chassis when used with an adapter or programmable controller that does not have an internal power supply. It works with the PLC-5 family of processors and Mini-PLC-2 /02, /05, /16, and /17. This is not compatible with the 1771-A1, -A2, or -A4 I/O chassis. And it is not designed for parallel connection as this may result in damage due to unexpected machine operation or processor memory loss.
