This happens because the NATR functions as a router, and both sides need to be connected for successful communication. The PLCs must set the gateway to the private side IP of the NATR so that the device can properly route packets between networks. Remember that you cannot ping the private IP from the public side; you can only do so from the private side. Using Ethernet Device drivers instead of EtherNet/IP drivers in RSLogix is recommended for communication with the translated side.
