Information About 1784-PCM5
A product of Allen-Bradley, the 1784-PCM5 cable is a DH+ communication cable that is used for communication between a computer and the PCMCIA card. The communications adapter cable comes with the 1784-CP7 adapter and two wedges that must be attached with the cable to the computer. The 1784-PCM5 cable is used for connecting the 1784-PCMK/B card to the PLC-2, the PLC-3, or the PLC-5 processors. Moreover, the 1784-PCM5 cable is used to connect the 1784-PCMK/B card to an enhanced PLC-5 processor. The 1784-PCM5 cable does not come with a loopback connector. Therefore, if the users run a loopback diagnostic test, they must connect the 1784-PCM5 cable to the 1784-PCMK card. Ensure that the cable is not connected to a DH+ link. If the 1784-PCM5 cable is linked to the DH+ link, this causes the test to fail, resulting in a possible noise on the network.
The PCMCIA cards feature 16 bits and it connects to various series of cables through the use of locking connectors. Using the 1784-PCM5 cable ensures that the PCMK card works with new notebook computers that use the PCI bus technology. Make sure that the PCMK card to be connected uses the new driver versions to avoid any errors. The 1784-PCM5 cable supports the DH+ network at 230 kbps and it contains remote I/O scanner capabilities. The 1784-PCM5 cable should be attached using the packaged wedges. The wedges are included to ensure that there is enough strain relief on the cable. This secures the cable to the computer while ensuring that the cable is not disconnected accidentally. If the wedges are not utilized and the cable disconnects accidentally, there is a risk of damaging the connector on the cable, and also damaging the PCMK Card.
