Information About 1785-ENET
The Allen-Bradley 1785-ENET is a PLC5 Ethernet Interface module. This module is used to provide Ethernet connectivity to a PLC5 controller for implementation of Distributed I/O system, communication to visualization systems such as Human Machine Interface (HMI). Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). It may also be used to communicate with programming devices for downloading of user programs and establishing online connection to the controller.
This Ethernet interface module has One (1) RJ45 Port supporting Ethernet TCP I/P protocol. It supports data transmission speed of 10/100 Mbps with auto-negotiation capability. It has built-in status indicators such as STAT, 100M and 10M. The STAT indicator display the module’s Ethernet link activity. 100M depicts connection to a 100 Mbps network while 10M pertain to link activity in 10Mbps network.
the Ethernet communication interface directly attaches to the 1785 backplane via a 1771 PLC5 chassis. It is compatible for use with Enhanced PLC5 controllers, PLC5 controller with ControlNet communication port, and PLC5 controller with Ethernet communication port as well. Installing this Ethernet interface module together with a PLC5 Ethernet controller enables dual link capability.
The 1785-ENET is available in multiple series and revisions. Series A with Revision K module is compatible with PLC-5/11, PLC-5/20, PLC-5/26; Series A revision L is compatible with PLC-5/30. Series B revision L is compatible with PLC-5/40, PLC-5/40L, PLC-5/46, PLC-5/60, PLC-5/60L. Series C revision K is compatible with PLC-5/11, PLC-5/20, PLC-5/26, PLC-5/30, PLC-5/40, PLC-5/40L, PLC-5/46, PLC-5/60, PLC-5/60L, PLC-5/80, PLC-5/86 PLC-5/20E, PLC-5/40E, PLC-5/80E PLC-5/20C, PLC-5/40C, PLC-5/80C. Series D revision B is compatible with PLC-5/11, PLC-5/20, PLC-5/26, PLC-5/30, PLC-5/40, PLC-5/40L, PLC-5/46, PLC-5/60, PLC-5/60L, PLC-5/80, PLC-5/86 PLC-5/20E, PLC-5/40E, PLC-5/80E PLC-5/20C, PLC-5/40C, PLC-5/80C. Finally, Series E and later, regardless of the revision, is compatible with All Enhanced, Ethernet, and ControlNet PLC-5 controllers.
This module has a backplane rating of 1.0 A at 5 Volts DC and dissipates 5 Watts power. When used with an enhanced PLC-5 controller, the 1785-ENET enables EtherNet connectivity without disabling the DH+/RIO ports and conveniently provides Ethernet connectivity with a ControlNet PLC-5 controller. It can also run dual Ethernet links with the Ethernet PLC-5 controller. This unit weighs approximately 0.77 kg (1.7 pounds) and has dimensions of 273.05 x 31.75 x 146.05 millimeters (10.75 x 1.25 x 5.75 inches).
The module provides a 50 Volt circuit isolation using basic insulation type tested for 60 seconds at 500 Volts AC between communications to systems and uses the Ethernet 802.3 compliant (TCP/IP) shielded or unshielded twisted wire pair for connections. It supports Ethernet TCP/IP protocol via the 8-pin RJ45 port embedded in the module’s front panel. The module is tested to operate without derating at a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) at 5% to 95% non-condensing relative humidity. It is also tested to withstand a 2.0 G operational vibration at 10 to 500 Hertz and to maintain the standard specified functionality at an operational shock of 30 G.
