The Allen-Bradley 1786-CTK toolkit is a Coax toolkit, a set of tools that are specifically designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley in other to facilitate the ControlNet wiring installation process. This 1786-CTK Coax toolkit includes a cable strip tool, a memory blade holder and its cartridges, a calibration tool (also known as a flare tool), a crimp tool, and most importantly, a detailed guide for the deployment of the ControlNet Networks called "The ControlNet Coax Media Planning and Installation Guide, Allen-Bradley publication CNET-IN002." Properly trained technicians using the 1786-CTK Coax Toolkit and following the manufacturer’s guidelines for installation will guarantee the best possible future results on a ControlNet architecture system.
The main tool in the Allen-Bradley 1786-CTK toolkit is the cable strip tool, and it comes from the factory with two blade cassettes. One blade cassette is intended for use with the cable PVC material and the other one is intended for the FEP. The Allen-Bradley 1786-CTK Coax toolkit also contains additional terminating resistors and extra connectors, so that the technicians performing the installation can always have them readily available when needed. The memory blade cartridges come with 2 sets of memory blades as spare parts. A custom-designed knife is also included in the toolkit, and so are versatile and durable wire cutters. When installing the IP 67 rated connectors, a heat gun will be required (this tool is not supplied in the toolkit). Following all the application and installation guidelines that are detailed in the ControlNet Coax Media Planning and Installation Guide will prevent electrical noise from entering the controllers from external sources.
