The Allen-Bradley 1791ES-IB8XOBV4 is a Guard I/O Ethernet safety module. This module features Eight (8) current sinking Safety inputs with minimum in-state voltage of 11VDC and minimum on-state current of 3.3 mA. The input types are IEC 61131-2 Type 3. It also has Four (4) Current sourcing outputs with 0.7 A per output; 8 A total module @ 40 °C (104 °F) and 6 A total module @ 60 °C (140 °F). This module also has Four (4) dual channel bipolar Current sourcing outputs with 0.7 A per output; 8 A total module @ 40 °C (104 °F) and 6 A total module @ 60 °C (140 °F).

This module also comes with One (1) Ethernet I/P port for network connection. The Ethernet port is an RJ45 port that permits connection to the Ethernet I/P safety network. The IP address may be configured using the provided rotary switches located on the front panel of the module. Additionally, IP address setting may also be configured using the BOOTP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server. It may also be configured by retrieving an existing IP address from a non-volatile memory.
