The Allen-Bradley 1794-IP4 is a 1794 FLEX Pulse Counter Module. It performs calculation and high-speed scaling for industrial applications such as speed calculation, quantity counting, and flow monitoring. An input signal of 6V amplitude should be provided by all the input devices of this module. For an input-On condition, it has a 6V minimum threshold and for an input-Off condition, it has a maximum 3V threshold. The input signals must pass cleanly through the transitional region between 3V and 6V, otherwise, the module may not operate properly. It has various flow and turbine metering applications in the automotive, power management, food, beverage, oil, and gas industries. The 1794-IP4 module has 4 pulse counter inputs in 2 groups of 2 inputs each. It has a maximum counting frequency of 100kHz. The 1794-IP4 has a nominal external DC supply current of 150mA at 12V DC and 75mA at 24V DC. It has a dimension of 1.8 x 3.7 x 2.1 in. and 12 - 24V DC external power supply. The 1794-IP4 has a maximum power dissipation of 5W at 26.4V DC and a thermal dissipation of 17.1 BTU/hr. at 26.4V DC.
