Information About 1794-L34
The Allen-Bradley 1794-L34 is a FlexLogix controller that is compatible for use with the Flex I/O modular system. This controller is ideal for small and simple applications however, supports installation in a wide variety of industrial applications such as factory and process automation.
The 1794-L34 features an embedded serial communication interface that supports ASCII and DF1 protocol. ASCII is typically used for communicating with barcode readers while DF1 may be used to used with operator terminals such as PanelView Graphic Terminals as well as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. It may be installed with communication adapters such has the 1788 communication adapters to become compatible with Ethernet, DeviceNet and ControlNet communication networks.
The 1794-L34 comes with an internal user memory amounting to 512 Kbytes. It is powered by an external supply voltage of 24VDC, nominal with acceptable voltage range of 19-31.2 VDC, including 5% ac ripple. It requires a FlexBus current of 653mA maximum @ 5.1V dc and power dissipation of 25.5W maximum at 19.2V and 20.4W maximum at 24V dc while the controllers Thermal dissipation is 87BTU/hour @ 19.2V.
To comply with CSA requirements, a Separated Extra Low Voltage (SELV) power supply such as 1794-PS3 or 1794-PS13 may be used. When terminating power supply input, use #22 to #14 AWG (0.324 to 2.08 sq. mm) stranded wires and tighten connections with 5 to 7 inch-pounds (0.6 to 0.8Nm) Torque.
The embedded serial cable can be custom fabricated however, Allen-Bradley manufactured cables may be used such as 1756-CP3 or 1747-CP3 directly to controller. It may also be interfaced with 1761-NET-AIC for isolation. When interface with the 1761-NET-AIC, applicable serial communication cables are 1761-CBLPM02 and 1761-CBLPA00.
Application installation orientation for this module is either horizontal or vertical mountinh via a panel mount or DIN rail (particularly a 35 x 7.55 millimeters steel DIN rail). The 1794-L34 can handle up to 8 tasks but only 1 can be continuous. This controller supports event tasks, which are consumed tag trigger as well as EVENT instructions. Aside from DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and ControlNet communications, the 1794-L34 can also communicate using serial communication, DH-485, and Modbus via ladder routine. 32 connections each can be made over EtherNet/IP and ControlNet.
This controller has a nominal input voltage rating of 24 Volts DC and a range of 19.2 to 31.2 Volts DC that already includes the 5% AC ripple. Its input current is a maximum of 1.33 Amps at 19.2 Volts DC and a maximum of 0.85 Amps at 24 Volts DC. The Flexbus current has a maximum of 653 mA at 5.1 Volts DC and a maximum power dissipation is 25.5 Watts at 19.2 Volts DC and 20.4 Watts at 24 Volts DC. It also has a thermal dissipation of 87 BTU/hour at 19.2 Volts and a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 to 95%. This controller has a non-operating temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and an operating temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The operating vibration of the 1794-L34 controller is 5G at 10 to 500 Hertz and it also has a shock of 30G and 50G, operating and non-operating respectively.
