Product Description P/N: 2080-TC2
Description
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 2080-TC2 module is a Micro 800 series non-isolated thermocouple module. It can be connected to Micro 800 series controllers to give them the power of temperature control. The 2080-TC2 non-isolated thermocouple module is a 2-channel thermocouple module. It has a rated mounting torque of 0.2 N-m. The 2080-TC2 non-isolated thermocouple module operates by digitally converting and transmitting temperature data from as many as 8 types of thermocouple sensors in any arrangement.

Information About 2080-TC2
The 2080-TC2 by Allen-Bradley is a 2-channel, non-isolated thermocouple plug-in model that belongs to the Micro800 Specialty Plug-in Modules. It enhances the range of capabilities of a base unit controller by making temperature control possible when a Proportional Integral Derivative is used. Micro830 and Micro850 support this specialty module. It can be installed on any of the controller plug-in slots. The module unit ships with two module fastening screws, a pin-out guide wiring instructions, and one EPCOS B57869S0502F140 part, which is a passive negative temperature, non-polarized co-efficient CJC thermistor that is fixed to the plug-in. Be careful not to unscrew or remove this CJC thermistor.
The 2080-TC2 Thermocouple Plug-in Module has 12-pin female terminal blocks and supports sensors with ANSI and IEC code B, E, J, K, N, R, S, and T. It has a 14-bit resolution, a power consumption of 3.3 Volts, 40 mA, and an input impedance of 300 KΩ. It comes with a common mode rejection ratio of 100 dB at 50 to 60 Hertz, and normal mode rejection ratio of 70 dB at 50 to 60 Hertz. Using a 2.5 millimeter or 0.10-inch flat-blade screwdriver, apply terminal screw torque between 0.22 and 0.25 N-m (1.95 to 2.21 pounds on an inch). The plug-in can be wired before insertion into the controller or once it has been secured in place.
Cabling used with the 2080-TC2 Module must be shielded, twisted cores. At the controller end, the shield wire should be shorted to a chassis ground. The recommended wire size is between 0.14 and 1.0 millimeters squared (26 to 17 AWG) stranded copper wire or 0.14 to 1.5 millimeters squared (26 to 16 AWG) solid copper wire, both of which should be rated at a maximum insulation of 90 degrees Celsius (194 degrees Fahrenheit). Performance of the non-isolated module and entire setup will depend on the application, however, better noise immunity can be achieved by keeping cable length within the ideal length of ten meters. If working with configurations requiring longer cable length, use the 2085 expansion I/O modules.
