Information About 2198-H008-ERS2
The Allen-Bradley 2198-H008-ERS2 is a Kinetix 5500 Ethernet I/P servo drive. This drive features a dual integrated Ethernet I/P communication port which enable this drive to connect to an existing Ethernet network for the purposes of implementing integration and integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) functionality. This drive is operation when supplied with 195…264V rms, single-phase (240V nom); 195…264V rms, three-phase (240V nom) and 324…528V rms, three-phase (480V nom). These input voltages enable the drive to deliver output power and current ratings of 0.5 KW at 195…264V rms, single-phase; 0.8 KW at 195…264V rms, three-phase and 1.6 kW at 324…528V rms, three-phase as well as Continuous Output Current (0-peak) of 3.5 A, Continuous Output Current (rms) of 2.5 A, Peak Output Current (0-peak) of 8.8 A and Peak Output Current (rms) of 6.25 A.
This drive supports integration to ControlLogix 5570, ControlLogix 5580, CompactLogix 5370, or CompactLogix 5380 controllers using the Studio 5000 Logix Designer. This is the premiere integration method where drive parameters can become part of the user program and processed by the Logix controller. This permits dynamic drive configuration and assignments, minimizing the need of human intervention and process disruption.
Available connectors installed to this drive are Motor feedback (MF) connector, Digital inputs (IOD) connector, Motor brake (BC) connector, Shunt resistor (RC) connector, AC mains input power (IPD) connector, DC bus (DC) connector (under cover), 24V control input power (CP) connector and Motor power (MP) connector. This drive supports zero stacking installation that is ideally used in minimum and tight panel spaces.
The drive operates in various configurations, both stand-alone and multi-axis: shared AC/DC hybrid shared AC/DC, shared AC and shared DC. It provides a cost-effective motion solution, delivering both high performance and scalability with motor windings matched to drive ratings for optimized system sizing (0.6 kW to 1.6 kW). Enhancing the midrange architecture portfolio, this motion system is designed to connect and operate with CompactLogix 5370 controllers by using Studio 5000 environment and supporting the Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP network. Studio 5000 Logix Designer application, version 24.00 or later should be used. With the benefits of this motion system, motion applications can be run on a single control platform by using a single network, simplifying the design, operation, and maintenance of equipment. The feature that stands out about this servo drive model is its Safe torque-off via its EtherNet/IP network capability. This feature typically works in by having the GuardLogix 5570 or Compact GuardLogix 5370 safety controller issue a Safe Torque-Off (STO) command over the EtherNet/IP network; the 2198-H008-ERS2 integrated safety drive then executes the command. This servo drive is compatible with rotary motors 220 Volt and 400 Volt-class Kinetix VP (Bulletin VPL, VPF, and VPS), MP-Series (Bulletin MPL, MPM, MPF, and MPS) when used with the Hiperface-to-DSL feedback converter kit and induction motors with open loop frequency control. The maximum cable lengths to the motors are 50 meters (164 feet) for standard non-flex cables and 30 meters (98.4 feet) for continuous flex cables. The 2198-H008-ERS2 servo drive uses a solid-state motor overload protection that operates in accordance with UL 508C. Motor overload protection is provided by algorithms (thermal memory) that predict actual motor temperature based on operating conditions as long as control power is continuously applied. When control power is removed, thermal memory is not retained. In addition to thermal memory protection, these drives provide an input for an additional temperature sensor/thermistor device, embedded in the motor, to support the UL requirement for motor overload protection. The Allen-Bradley 2198-H008-ERS2 can work with an AC input/output voltage of 240 Volts AC for single-phase, and 240/480 Volts AC for three-phase systems. Nominal output powers are 0.5 kW, 0.8 kW, and 1.6 kW respectively. Control input voltage is 24 Volts DC and nominal bus output voltage is 276 Volts DC to 747 Volts DC. The product dimensions are 50 x 170 x 200 millimeters (1.97 x 6.69 x 7.87 inches). Kinetix 5500 drive accessories include the Bulletin 2198 capacitor module, AC line filters, and the shared-bus connection system. They are also compatible with Bulletin 2097 external shunt resistors.
