Information About 2198-H040-ERS2
The Allen-Bradley 2198-H040-ERS2 is a Kinetix 5500 Ethernet I/P Digital Servo drive. This servo is especially designed to couple with servo motors to form a system that is capable of implementing motion and positioning control. This drive deliver output current and power to the connected servo motor to initiate movement and follow the custom configured motion and positioning profile.
The 2198-H040-ERS2 is operated by providing a 195…264V rms, three-phase (240V nom) or 324…528V rms, three-phase (480V nom) supplied the drive’s input terminals. It has an AC input current of 13.4 A. The output characteristics of this digital servo drive incudes Continuous Output Power of 4.0 KW at 195…264V rms, three-phase or 8.4 kW at 324…528V rms, three-phase;
Continuous Output Current (0-peak) of 13.0 A; Continuous Output Current (rms) of 18.4 A; Peak Output Current (0-peak) of 32.5 A and Peak Output Current (rms) of 45.9 A. These output parameters are sent to the bus to be readily provide to the connected motor to drive the connected load and implement control.
This digital servo drive is also equipped with safety features such as Safe Torque-Off (STO) functionality which is rated up to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (PLe). Additionally, having code “2” at the end of the part number, this servo drive supports integrated safety over Ethernet I/P.
The 2198-H040-ERS2 also comes with dual Ethernet interface, allowing communication with CompactLogix, ControlLogix and GuardLogix controllers. This interface enables seamless integration to these controllers and significantly contributes to the controllability and maintainability of the drive as direct integration to the mentioned controllers eliminates the need of specialty equipment and devices.
The 2198-H040-ERS2 Servo Drive features a torque-off function that is safely integrated, providing a fairly low failure probability and a maximum response time of 12 milliseconds or less.
It will execute STO commands given by any of its controllers, Compact GuardLogix 5570 or GuardLogix 5570, with communication taking place over an Ethernet/IP network. That way, when a monitored digital input is received, the inverter transistors can be safely disabled. This drive supports safety-only management as well as motion and safety connections, automatically populating the Safety Network Number on both modes. Integrated safe torque-off drives do not ship with STO connectors, but do have the protective cover in place.
A user can install and operate the 2198-H040-ERS2 unit in either a bus-sharing multi-axis setting, such as shared AC, shared DC, multi-axis shared AC/ DC, or shared AC/DC hybrid configurations, or as a standalone unit. In multi-axis installations, the drives are spaced and aligned using zero-stack tab and cutout. The 2198-H040-ERS2 has internal shunt resistor for dissipating excessive energy.
