Information About 22A-D1P4N104
The Allen-Bradley 22A-D1P4N104 is a PowerFlex 4 adjustable frequency AC drive. Other terms used in the industry to refer to this drive are variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Variable Speed Drive (VSD), Adjustable Frequency Drive, Frequency Inverter, Inverter or motor drive. All these terms refer to an electronic device that is used to implement Speed control and energy savings as well. Some drives, such as the 22A-D1P4N104 also supports implementation of Torque control.
The 22A-D1P4N104 implements Speed and Torque control via a variety of control methods. For speed control, the 22A-D1P4N104 may be configured for speed control by utilizing Volts / Hertz (V/Hz) control. This control method delivers consistent speed by maintaining proportionality between frequency and voltage. For Torque control, appropriate control method for use is Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) or Sensorless Vector Control with economizer. With SVC method, Torque control across the entire speed range of the drive may be generated which is compatible for use in applications that perform lifting, material transfer, opening and closing of equipment. Additionally, the integra; Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) capability of this drive permits the 22A-D1P4N104 to act as stand-alone controller, able to maintain configured setpoint to the drive and implement fullu-automatic control.
This drive supports local and remote operation. Local operation may be implemented using the provided Human Interface Module (HIM) which is equipped with keypad and function keys for local operation of the drive. For remote operation, this drive may be wired with external signaling devices such as pushbuttons and other types of switches to be assigned internally as motor Start / Stop / Forward / Reverse / Jog signal sources. Similarly, output devices and external speed references may be wired to provide speed command and indications.
For branch circuit protection, recommended components are 140M-C2E-B25 motor protector, a 100-C09 contactor, and 3 UL Class J (type) fuses. The 22A-D1P4N104 drive has a power loss (along the wire) of 30 Watts and an efficiency of 97.5%. The 22A-D1P4N104 has a digital control input which can be tasked to a source or sink mode through a DIP switch setting. It has a C relay programmable output control with a resistive/inductive rating of 3.0 Amps at 125 to 240 Volts AC and 0.5 Amps at 125 to 240 Volts AC. It also has an analog control input and it offers protection over a current-per-time motor overload of up to 150% for 60 seconds and up to 200% for 3 seconds.
The 22A-D1P4N104 also provides protection against an overcurrent at a 200% hardware limit and a 300% instantaneous fault limit for 3 seconds. It also provides over voltage and under voltage protection to the drive. It has an ambient temperature range of 10 to 50 degrees Celsius and it is certified to operate optimally even at an altitude of 1000 meters (3300 feet) without losing power. It has a carrier frequency of 4 to 16 kilohertz with an accuracy of ±0.05% set within the digital control and 0.5% set within the analog control. The 22A-D1P4N104 has a total weight of 1.41 kilograms (3.1 pounds), and dimensions of 5.98 x 3.15 x 5.35 inches.
