The PowerFlex 523 adjustable Frequency AC Drive with catalog number 25A-D017N104 operates as a supply voltage range of 380-480VAC, 47-63 Hz and delivers an output current of 17 Amperes, output power of 7.5 kW or 10.0 HP and programmable output frequency of 0-500 Hz. This drive is primarily used for implementing speed control as well as Torque control. Additionally, this drive is an alternative energy saving device than a soft-starter as it is capable of lowering power consumption via the programmable parameters supported by this drive.
For Speed control, this drive is capable of implementing Volts / Hertz (V/Hz) control method. This control method offers excellent speed control capability which is useful for machine and processes such as conveyor, material transfer and pumping applications. For Torque control, Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) may be used and applicable for application that where lifting is required or gripping action is required along the entire speed range of the drive. Some of these applications are drilling, pumping, damper, material handling and other similar applications.
Aside from the mentioned control methods, the 25A-D017N104 support integral Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) control. This enables the drive to independently act as controller and implement automatic speed regulation based on the Setpoint configured within is programmable parameters.
The 25A-D017N104 supports integration with Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC) such as CompactLogix and ControlLogix controllers via premiere integration using Studio 5000 Logix Designer. This integration methods permits the controller to directly access drive parameters, enabling further integration to Human Machine Interface (HMI) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
