The integrated backlight is designed to operate up to 50,000 hours, 1/2 life when operated at 25 °C (77 °F) Operators interact with the process by means of the touch input interface that is made of 128 touch cells with each cell measuring 20 x 30 pixels. It is recommended to operate this operator terminal with a gloved finger or a stylus to protect the touch membrane. Servicing of the touch sensitive surface may also be accomplished using a soft cloth partially wetted with mild soap solution to remove contaminants commonly present in site such as oil, dust and grease.

The 2711-T6C2L1 has a DH485 communication port which supports communication with DH485 enabled devices as well. It supports communication rates of 1200, 2400, 9600, 19.2K with maximum cable distance of 1219 m (4,000 ft). It also has an internal memory of 240 Kbytes.
