It supports an external SD card slot and a USB 2.0 port for connecting to other peripheral devices like printers and flash drives. It has a battery-backed real-time clock, with a field replaceable battery that has a lifespan of 4 years. This unit includes both the Logic Module (2711P-RP1) and Display Module (2711P-RDT12C).

A communication module with an easy network interface can be attached to the base configured unit for wider network capability. Users can easily set application parameters and enter data through the color LCD.
