Low Energy Snubber Resistor Braking Kit 2SR41800 is designed for 1SU4x015 and 1SU4x020 drives. This kit is a Reliance Electric, SP500 series equipment set. The instruction manual for this kit is D2-3291. This specific kit requires connection to the snubber resistor braking 10V power supply. This kit can run with drives rated at 5 HP, 7.5 HP, 10 HP, 15 HP, and 20 HP, all with a voltage of 460V. The resistance value is 25, the continuous watt dissipation is 180 watts, the instantaneous watt dissipation is 18000 watts, and the continuous duty cycle is 50%. The dimensions are 18.2 in (H) x 10.25 in (W) x 10.5 in (D).

The snubber braker consists of braking transistor circuitry and resistor or set of resistors. The kits are enclosed in an enclosed NEMA 1 case. The input current is a rated DC current, and the rated voltage is 3-phase, +10%, -20%. The kit is 50/60 Hz. There are no adjustments on this kit, just an automatic voltage level. The connections are to the drive’s DC bus, to ground, and to the input AC line. The included panel indicators are the DC bus lamp, the control power lamp, and the active braking lamp. Keep the operating temperature between 0-50° C, and keep the non-condensing humidity below 90%. The atmosphere around this kit must remain free of corrosive gas and dust. Properly size a complete snubber resistor braking kit by calculating the peak and average regeneration power of the application. If the peak and average power cannot be calculated due to unknown values (such as system inertia), select the braking units based on the drive horsepower rating and the application duty cycle.
