Possible causes of an OC or overcurrent fault include a line transient and a short in the power devices such as the motor, the output transistor, or the D-C bus components. Possible causes of an OV or overvoltage fault include an input voltage greater than 255 V and a too-large external D-C snubber resistance. Possible causes of an OH or overtemperature fault include a controller ambient temperature in excess of 55° C, a cooling fan failure, and regenerative power required for an application that is greater than the internal D-C snubber resistor capability. If there is a POS fault, or Pulse Buffer Overthrow in Position mode, the acceleration/deceleration rate is too short for the load.

If there is an SZ fault while in Speed/Torque mode, the speed reference is operating below the value selected with the PG pot. If there is an SZ fault while in Position mode, the positioning is complete. If there is a PL or Phase Loss fault, there is an input phase loss because a motor lead or motor ground is present. Possible causes of a UV or undervoltage fault include a shorted D-C snubber resistor, an input voltage less than 207 V when 230 V input is selected, and an input voltage less than 188 V when 208 V input is selected. Possible causes of an OL or inverse time overload fault include an output motor current that has exceeded the allowable overload as adjusted by the OL pot, and the motor’s RMS load that is greater than the continuous motor rating. If there is a BBK or base driver blocked fault, the dip switch 1SW-7 is turned on, preventing the output transistors from turning on. This LED is disabled by default; only use this LED when troubleshooting the controller.
