Information About 5069-L340ERS2

The Allen-Bradley 5069-L340ERS2 is a Compact GuardLogix controller from Allen-Bradley. This controller is part of the Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) product category, specifically, the modern Logix automation platform. Instead of having a dedicated safety and standard controller, the 5069-L340ERS2 features capability of implementing both tasks as this controller supports handling of up to 31 Standard Tasks and 1 Safety Task wherein each task, regardless of the kind, supports up to 1000 programs and may use all types of triggers supported both by the Studio 5000 Logix Designer and controller.

For standard function, the controller has 4 MB user memory while for safety function, this controller has a dedicated 2 MB safety memory. Additionally, a non-volatile memory amounting to 2 GD is already provided to the controller via the 1784-SD2 Seduce Digital (SD) card.

For industrial communication, the 5069-L340ERS2 has Two (2) Ethernet interfaces which support transmission speeds of 10 / 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps. Compatible network topologies are Linear, Star and Device Level Ring (DLR).

The 5069-L340ERS2 supports DIN rail mounting in horizontal orientation only. It is powered by supplying 18-32V DC and current of 450 mA. Use a DIN rail that is made of zinc-plated, chromate steel or the EN50022 DIN rail. It is important that the DIN rail is made of good conductive material and offers susceptibility against oxidation and corrosion as this mounting component connects the controller to the grounding system. Intermittent grounding connection which may affect the operation and performance of the control system may be experienced if the DIN rail is made of non-conductive material.

The USB port is a full-speed USB port and the Ethernet ports can handle communication speeds of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1 Gbps in different applications. The Allen-Bradley 5069-L340ERS2 controller can also support 90 Ethernet nodes at a time. The L340ERS2 controller is programmed to handle up to 32 tasks with up to 1000 programs per task at a time. These 32 tasks consist of 31 different standard tasks and 1 safety task. The 5069-L340ERS2 controller can also handle event tasks with all of the event triggers. The compatible Ethernet topologies for this Ethernet controller are the star topology, the linear topology, and the DLR or device level ring topology. The Allen-Bradley 5069-L340ERS2 controller can also operate in 1 of 2 different Ethernet modes, and these modes are the Dual/IP mode and the Linear/DLR mode. The Dual/IP Ethernet mode is available through the Logix Designer application in version 29 or later.
