The Simodrive 611 is designed to fit right into a larger system, and all the parts together make up the Simodrive group.  The power supply produces heat as a byproduct of its regular function, and so a fan or some alternative or external cooling system is required to keep the whole machine running smoothly.  If the Simodrive were to overheat then it would cease to work properly and could be at risk of incurring serious and potentially permanent damages.

The power module is a member of a multi-module system that consists of other components such as a, transformer, various types of cooling (external, internal, and hose), switching and protective elements, commutating reactors, a line filter, infeed modules, special modules and additional accessories, and last but not least, control units designed to synch with the particular power supply, such as the 6SN1123-1AB00-0BA1. The rating of the size of the power module is correctly chose based on the overload capability and the motor. 

This Simodrive 611 power module is specially designed be able to handle two axis’ at the same time, a great function especially when it comes to saving space and making your system more manageable, especially in regards to spacing. As long as you are familiar with factory automation power modules, this Simodrive 611 will be very simply to identify from other Siemens products, power module, and any other part that might be found as a part of a factory automation line.
