This PLC Remote Interface Module was a product made by Schneider Electric's Square D division. The module is part of the SY/MAX Class 8010 family of systems. The purpose of the module is to be the communication interface between the SY/MAX processor and the Remote I/O network. The ambient temperature that best suits the module is between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius. The module's dimensions are 1.5 x 12.8 x 6.6 with a weight of 3.2 pounds. To alert the users of anomalies within the system, there are four LED indicators that express information. The module can support networks that are connected by cables from a length of 7500 feet. The failure override on the system ensures the module safety in a critical condition. Other features of the module are the drop shutdown, freeze outputs and automatic restart.
The PLC Remote Interface Module has 1024 addressable registers for connecting the system. For each slot, 128 registers are assignable to their individual slots. This remote I/O stays in the CPU slot of the computer and functions from there. The module of the system has a communication rate the volleys between 62.5KB to 1 MB per second. There are 8 DIP switches on the module that allows the user more control over the system. Five of the DIP switches control the drop number of the system. 3 of the DIP switches control the bit-rate at which the data of the system transfer.
