Product Description P/N: DC2-97U
Description
The Reliance Electric DC2-97U is a single-phase DC motor controller designed for use with Reliance DC motors. This continuous-duty controller converts AC power into adjustable DC power. It supports dual input voltages via a reconnectable AC power line, providing 1.0 horsepower and 90 VDC with a 115 VAC input, and 2.0 horsepower and 180 VDC with a 230 VAC input.
Integrated controller systems enhance functionality and interface. A full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier with an included back diode supports armature form factor improvements, while a half-wave field provides a usable supply for shunt wound DC motors. Unidirectional operation features a coast-to-rest stop, and an internal thermostat prevents motor overload. Remote stop, start, run, and jog functions are also included.
The controller offers embedded speed control functions for added process control. A selector switch enables manual and automatic mode selection through an isolated process control interface. In automatic mode, motor speed adjustments are made via a process control output, while manual mode utilizes a potentiometer. Motor speed adjustments can also be performed using a mounted DC tachometer or an armature voltage regulation system. Current limits and minimum/maximum speeds are adjustable by the operator.

Information About DC2-97U
The Reliance Electric DC2-97U is a single-phase DC motor controller designed for use with Reliance DC motors, providing continuous duty operation by converting AC power into adjustable DC power. It supports dual input voltages through a reconnectable AC power line. At 115 VAC input, it generates 1.0 horsepower and 90 VDC, while at 230 VAC input, it delivers 2.0 horsepower and 180 VDC.
Integrated controller systems enhance functionality and interface. Armature form factor improvements are facilitated by a full-wave, half-controlled armature voltage rectifier with an included back diode. A half-wave field generates a usable supply for shunt wound DC motors. Unidirectional operation includes a coast-to-rest stop feature, and an internal thermostat prevents motor overload. Remote stop, start, run, and jog functions are also available.
The controller provides additional process control features. A selector switch enables manual and automatic mode selection via an isolated process control interface. In automatic mode, motor speed adjustments are made using a process control output, while manual mode adjustments are achieved with a potentiometer. Motor speed can also be regulated through a mounted DC tachometer and an armature voltage regulation system. Current limits and minimum and maximum speeds are adjustable by the control operator.
