Information About DS3800HSQD
The GE Low HP Sequence Board DS3800HSQD is engineered with 1 hole in each corner to insert screws to secure the board in the drive. The GE Low HP Sequence Board DS3800HSQD also is populated with 2 40-pin connectors and 1 20-pin connector with retention levers to secure the ribbon cables. The board is also populated with a 50-pin connector and 1 20-pin connector on the surface of the board. The board also is populated with 1 erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) module and 1 amber indicator LED and 8 red indicator LEDs.
The 50-pin connector is used to attach a 50-wire ribbon cable to the board. The ribbon cable must be routed to allow air to carry away the heat from the board components. If a ribbon cable is attached to the 50-pin connector, fold the cable neatly and route the cable across the board and along the interior side of the drive. From there, the cable can be routed without interfering with the air flow.
Special care must be used when you disconnect the 50-wire ribbon cable. Fine strands of wire comprise the 50 control signals that the cable carries. They are fragile and they are easily disconnected from the plastic connector attached at the end of the cable. It is best practice to never put stress on the ribbon cable because it might cause the wires to separate from the connector. Hold the connector firmly with 1 hand and gently remove it from the connector. If you tug the ribbon cable to disconnect it you might damage the ribbon cable.
