Information About DS3800NOCA

The DS3800NOCA is an overcurrent overload board manufactured by GE for the Mark IV system. The Mark IV series was created for gas and steam turbine management. It increases efficiency by automating some processes (such as start-up and shutdown,) and by decreasing downtime caused by electronics failure. The latter is accomplished through design features like integrated chipsets with overlapping responsibilities that automatically take over for a damaged board.

The DS3800NOCA may accept the optional daughterboard DS3800DOCA. When this board is installed it gives DS3800NOCA access to the power of four extra potentiometers and several quick-connect screw mounts. The optional board is held in place by twenty board-to-board pins located in a single line in the upper right quadrant of the DS3800NOCA.

The DS3800NOCA has one toggle switch, one transistor, five red LEDs and one amber LED, and five test points. It is worth noting the TP test points are labeled TP0 and TP1 through TP4.

The DS3800NOCA communicates with other boards via one right-angled PCB mating connector (218A4553-1 A/mp 102041-1.) There is also one 28-pin female Augat connector placed on the board.

The DS3800NOCA is factory drilled and alignment marked. It has extractor clips installed in both right-hand corners. Extractor clips aid technicians in the extraction and insertion of boards from tight locations by giving them either a handle or a lever point.

Resistors tend to be ceramic-covered metal film, but some carbon composite resistors are used. Larger capacitors on this board are metalized polycarbonate that has been hermetically sealed.

The DS3800NOCA has multiple integrated circuits. This includes hex inverter gates, quad 2-input positive-nand buffers, and dual operational amplifiers.
