The DS3800NPSZ was created by General Electric (GE) as a part of the Speedtronic MKIV (Mark IV) system. For over sixty (60) years, the Mark systems have been used to operate and automate the workings of turbines--both gas and steam. MKIV also works to protect the turbine’s systems from working under dangerous conditions. The Mark systems have been responsible for turbine operation since the end of the 1940s.

The Mark IV is the third in the Mark series for controlling turbines. The first series, known as Mark I, was created in the late 1960s (1968). The Mark IV system controls all aspects of a gas or steam turbine. The system regulates startup and shutdown, monitors fuel injection levels, and monitors the temperature levels of the turbine. The Mark IV features a system of diagnostics which helps operators to determine what is wrong with the turbine in the event of a problem. A built-in printed helps with this by printing out a visual record of the turbine’s trips. The DS3800NPSZ is what is known as a power supply circuit board. Like other power supply circuit boards, the DS3800NPSZ likely contains diodes which are arranged in rows. A light-emitting diode, or LED, may be found on the DS3800NPSZ which glows when the component is working. A number of capacitors may also be seen on the DS3800NPSZ. Also on the DS3800NPSZ there may be a series of transistors. Integrated circuits may be positioned on the DS3800NPSZ. A variety of small resistors may be positioned on the surface of the DS3800NPSZ.
