Information About DS3800NTCF
The DS3800NTCF is a PCB created by GE for the MKIV Speedtronic series. This series was designed for steam/gas turbine control and is built upon triple-redundant back-ups on all critical controls and protection parameters.
The DS3800NTCF is designed to function as a Thermocouple condition card. The MKIV is designed to accept several of these boards, which are used to measure the temperature from turbines or other machines to a controller (computer) for high-temperature safety shutdown and process control. The temperatures measured by thermocouple cards will also be passed on to interface modules for monitoring and display purposes.
The DS3800NTCF has two connectors for communicating with other boards. These are marked 218A4637-P4 8933 (a male connector located to the right,) and 218A4553-1 Amp 533002-1 8931 (a right-angled connector located to the left.) The boards is numbered by tens behind the second connector.
The DS3800NTCF has four potentiometers, one resistor network, five jumper switches, and seven test points. Resistor networks are sometimes used to accomplish voltage division.
The DS3800NTCF is installed with two extractor clips. These help technicians install or extract the board from tight locations with no damage to components or wiring, as the nylon clips give them both a handle to grasp and a lever point to pull the board from its position.
The DS3800NTCF is built with a line of polyester vinyl 708D1 .0022 +/- 2% M/c 200V capacitors. It also has two lines of 8847C +m/c ss 47K +10VDC capacitors. The board has several small ceramic capacitors. Resistors are primarily ceramic-covered metal film, but some carbon composite resistors may be found on the board.
