Description 

The DS3820MSAB1A1A is a PCB created by GE for the Mark IV series. This series manages gas/steam turbines. It uses a framework of integrated microcomputers that work together to monitor the turbine continuously for issues like over speed, flame, over temperature, and high pressure. The microcomputers can also automate procedures like speed control, startup, shutdown, and control sequencing.

The DS3820MSAB1A1A is built on DS3800NASB PCB, with several modifications. These modifications include installation of a DIN rail system. The DIN rails attach by four screws which fit into the factory-drilled holes at each corner of the board. The board is held off the rails by the use of spacer pins. A protective plexiglass cover has also been installed. This connects to the PCB via five screw mounts fitted into vertical spacers. It is important to note the plexiglass shield does not cover the full surface of the board and that it has cutouts to leave the transformers uncovered.

The original board (DS3800NASB) is built with two transformers, two potentiometers, seven integrated circuits, and three transistors. This includes one Motorola NPN 2-pin transistor fitted with a heat sink. The board has fourteen test points, four right-angled mating connectors, and three two-pin headers. The headers mate wiring from the PCB to the DIN rails. The board also has seven thermistors. Thermistors are often used for control and measurement since they lose resistance as they gain heat.
