Information About 3X-FIB
The 3X-FIB is an EST3X Series fiber network option assembly consisting of an adapter card and electronics card for installation in compatible EST3X fire alarm control panels. It supports networking of up to 64 EST3X panels or connection of EST3X equipment into an existing EST3 network, distinguishing it from the eight-node 3X-FIB8 version intended for smaller systems. Fiber type is determined by separately installed transceivers, with support for MMXVR multimode and SMXLO2 or SMXHI2 single-mode interfaces using ST or duplex SC connections according to the selected transceiver. The module supports Class A, Class B, and Class X network configurations, network data and digitized audio communication, and an external 24 VDC backup input that can maintain network operation when the associated panel is shut down for servicing.
Key Features:
- 64-Panel Network Capacity: Supports fiber networking of as many as 64 compatible EST3X fire alarm control panels.
- EST3 Network Interface: Allows an EST3X panel to connect with an existing Edwards EST3 network architecture.
- Fiber-Optic Communication: Provides electrically isolated data transmission for distributed fire alarm and life-safety networks.
- Selectable Fiber Type: Fiber medium is determined by the separately installed single-mode or multimode transceiver.
- Multimode Support: Accepts the MMXVR multimode fiber transceiver with ST-style fiber connections.
- Single-Mode Support: Compatible with SMXLO2 and SMXHI2 single-mode transceivers using duplex SC connections.
- Class A/B/X Networking: Supports Class A, Class B, and compatible Class X network topologies.
- Network Data Communication: Supports network data rates up to 38.4 kbps for EST3/EST3X system information.
- Digitized Audio Support: Accommodates EST network digitized audio communication at approximately 327 kbps.
- Backup Power Input: Provides terminals for an external 24 VDC source to maintain network communication during panel servicing.
- Modular Card Construction: Uses an adapter and electronics card arrangement designed specifically for EST3X panel architecture.
- Flexible Optical Range: Supports different optical budgets and network distances through selection of the appropriate fiber transceiver.
The 3X-FIB delivers the reliability and precision required for large-scale fiber-optic networking and EST3 integration in distributed Edwards EST3X fire alarm and life-safety systems.
