Product Description P/N: EK1501
Description
The EK1501 is an EtherCAT Coupler with multi-mode fiber-optic connection, designed to bridge the EtherCAT protocol at the fieldbus level and the EtherCAT Terminals. It converts Ethernet 100BASE-FX telegrams to E-bus signal representation. Featuring 2 multi-mode fiber-optic SC duplex connections, it supports connection lengths up to 2 km. It includes 3 ID switches for variable topology implementation and can manage up to 65,535 EtherCAT Terminals. The EK1501 has two SC duplex sockets and three hexadecimal ID switches, providing flexible network configuration. It operates on a 24 V DC system and field supply, delivering up to 5 V and 2 A to connected EtherCAT Terminals.

Information About EK1501
The EK1501 is an EtherCAT coupler with a multi-mode fiber-optic connection. This device functions as the intermediary between the EtherCAT protocol at the fieldbus level and the EtherCAT terminals. It converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-FX to E-bus signal representation. The configuration of a station comprises the coupler and any number of EtherCAT terminals, which are automatically detected and individually displayed in the process image.
The EK1501 features two SC duplex sockets for the fiber-optic connection. These sockets allow for connection lengths of up to 2 km. The device also includes three hexadecimal ID switches for implementing variable topologies. The coupler can support up to 65,535 EtherCAT terminals in the overall system.
The upper Ethernet connection on the EK1501 is used to connect the coupler to the network. The lower SC duplex socket may be utilized to connect additional EtherCAT devices within the same segment. The multi-mode glass fiber connection, with a specification of 50/125 µm, enables a maximum distance of 2000 meters between two couplers. A group of EtherCAT components can be assigned a unique ID using the hexadecimal ID switches, which allows this group to be positioned at any location within the EtherCAT network. This functionality facilitates the implementation of variable topologies. Additionally, an EtherCAT junction or extension can be used to extend or establish line or star topologies.
