The EK1914 is a Beckhoff EtherCAT coupler that merges the functionality of the EK1100 with integrated standard and safety digital I/Os, making it suitable for installations with limited channel requirements. It provides four standard digital inputs and outputs, along with two fail-safe inputs and two fail-safe outputs, all of which exchange safety data via FSoE with a TwinSAFE Logic-capable controller. The unit’s safety parameters allow configuration such as 1-channel or 2-channel input evaluation, individual channel testing, and controlled activation of standard outputs through internal ANDing with safe output signals. By storing safety parameters externally rather than in the device itself, the EK1914 simplifies replacement and maintenance, as safety configurations are automatically transferred from the controlling TwinSAFE component upon system restart.
