The EL3318 is an EtherCAT Terminal featuring 8-channel analog input for temperature measurement using thermocouples. This terminal is designed to handle signals from eight thermocouples, making it highly suitable for space-constrained control cabinet applications. The EL3318 operates with thermocouple sensors utilizing the 2-wire technique. A microprocessor within the terminal manages the linearization across the entire temperature range, which can be freely selected according to specific requirements. 

The input channels of the EL3318 provide differential measurement, ensuring the accuracy of the signals. The current range for the input channels spans from 4 to 20 mA, and these signals are digitized with a 16-bit resolution. The digitized signals are then transmitted to the higher-level automation device in an electrically isolated manner, ensuring signal integrity and protection from electrical noise. 

The EL3318 features an internal cold junction compensation mechanism. This compensation is achieved through an internal temperature measurement at the terminal, which adjusts the readings to account for temperature variations at the connection point. This functionality is critical for maintaining accurate temperature measurements across the connected thermocouples.
