Product Description P/N: SPB-24N
Description
The Hochiki SPB-24N is a projected photoelectric beam smoke detector designed to provide reliable smoke detection across large open areas where conventional spot detectors are impractical. Operating from a 24 VDC supply, it consists of an emitter and receiver that continuously monitor an infrared beam for smoke obscuration. The SPB-24N has been discontinued and replaced by the Hochiki SPC-24 beam detector.

Information About SPB-24N
The SPB-24N is a conventional projected beam smoke detector manufactured by Hochiki for commercial and industrial fire alarm systems. It utilizes near-infrared photoelectric beam technology and a microprocessor-controlled receiver to detect smoke over long distances while automatically compensating for signal drift caused by dust or environmental changes. The detector features adjustable sensitivity settings, LED alignment indicators, and wall or single-gang box mounting for simplified installation. Although discontinued, the SPB-24N remains compatible with many existing fire alarm systems and has been superseded by the Hochiki SPC-24.
Key Features:
- Photoelectric Beam Detection: Uses an infrared beam to detect smoke across large protected areas.
- Microprocessor Control: Provides stable operation with automatic compensation for signal drift and lens contamination.
- Adjustable Sensitivity: Supports 25%, 50%, and 70% obscuration settings for various applications.
- Low Standby Current: Draws only 250 µA during supervisory operation at 24 VDC.
- LED Alignment Indicators: Simplifies installation and beam alignment.
- Flexible Mounting: Installs directly on a wall or standard single-gang electrical box.
- Long-Range Coverage: Designed to protect spaces with beam distances from approximately 32.8 to 328 ft (10–100 m).
- Replacement Model: Replaced by the Hochiki SPC-24 projected beam detector.
The SPB-24N delivers the reliability and precision required for long-range smoke detection in commercial and industrial fire protection systems.
