Both of these series have been available for the management of gas and steam turbines for over four decades. While more complex and advanced systems have continued to be released by GE, the MKI/MKII are still in use by many facilities around the world due to their basic functionality, ease of use, and longevity. These systems are not supported anymore by the original manufacturer and are considered obsolete by GE.

The IC3600LIVA1 carries several pieces of information on the board. This includes the identification number for the board, the circular GE logo, and the code 68A989104G1. It is also numbered by fives on one edge underneath the board’s communication device, which is a line of metal pins. When the IC3600LIVA1 is inserted into a Speedtronic frame wiring connects to these pins and allow for the transfer of data.

The IC3600LIVA1 has seventeen polyester vinyl capacitors. C1 is the designator for sixteen out of seventeen of these capacitors. The C1 capacitors are .001 +/- 10% 200 V. The last capacitor is a .047 μf polyester vinyl capacitor. Sixteen transistors are all marked Q1. The rest of the board is populated by diodes and eighty resistors made of carbon composite material. The majority of diodes and resistors are mounted vertically, while capacitors are mounted horizontally.
