The gas turbines designed and produced by General Electric are managed and controlled by the Speedtronic control systems, which are able to provide completely automatic control of the turbine’s systems. The IC3600SFKA1 does this employing what was considered the most advanced technology at the time (as this line of products is severely out of date and obsolete), and is made up of integrated circuits, microprocessors, sequencing and protective functions. The control system is made up of sensors and servo actuators to provide input and output interfaces.

The Speedtronic control system was designed to give the gas turbine units an increased level of reliability, fast response time and a more accurate performance, and the capabilities to become more adaptable for more diverse turbine cycles.

The IC3600SFKA1 allows the General Electric Speedtronic control system to perform several functions, including fuel management and sequencing, managing the primary and auxiliary systems for functions like starting up, shutting down, and cooling down, and makes sure to monitor the emissions from the ventilation. In addition, the IC3600SFKA1 handles the voltage synchronization of the generator and complete turbine system.
