The IC693ALG221 is an Analog Current Input Module designed for the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). It features four input channels, each capable of converting analog input signals into digital signals as required for various applications. The module offers two input ranges: a default range of 4 to 20 mA and an adjustable range of 0 to 20 mA, with corresponding scaled user data.
In the default mode, 4 mA corresponds to a count of zero, and 20 mA corresponds to 32,000 counts, with each 1,000 count representing 0.5 mA. With the addition of a jumper to the I/O terminal board, the input range can be adjusted, with each 800 count equaling 0.5 mA. The module features two range jumpers, one for channels 1-2 and another for channels 3-4.
The IC693ALG221 module allows for a conversion speed of one-half milliseconds per channel, with an update rate of two milliseconds for any provided channel. It delivers a resolution speed of 12 bits over the chosen range, with percent AI user data registers in 16-bit 2’s complement format. In case of a reverse current source into the input, the module will output a data word corresponding to the low end of the range.
This module provides adequate input protection, capable of operating with reduced performance under common mode settings of up to 200 V. It also offers electrical isolation from external noise. Field connections require a high-quality twisted, shielded instrumentation cable connected to the COM or GND. An LED indicator monitors power supply operation.
